The YMSA 3 day trial is a flagship event. Held over the August Bank Holiday weekend, there are three trials at separate venues on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
OSET Bikes is lending its support and encouraging many of its OSET Cup riders to join the Derbyshire event, which takes place around the Matlock area.
Barry Burton, who plans, hosts and organises the renowned trial, said: “Our 3 day trial is all about helping develop the next generation. Every venue offers its own set of challenges. It gets riders out of their comfort zone and gives them a real sense of achievement after three days of intense riding.”
YMSA regulars know that one of the highlights is the Sunday night party, held in the barn. Previous years have seen tug of wars (mums, dads and kids), bucking bronco riding, unicycle races, extreme bouncy castles, karaoke and much more!
All competitors are asked to supply at least one observer over the course of the weekend. The D-Class will be a single route which is pitched at an OSET Cup red route (intermediate – hard). Top national level riders are encouraged to ride the YMSA green route, which will better suit their ability.
Ian Smith, founder of OSET Bikes, said: “This is the first year we’ve had a space in the diary to support the event. We really would like to encourage as many of our OSET riders to come and enjoy a full weekend of camping and riding. It’s a fantastic opportunity to get to meet other riders from around the country, develop your own riding ability and most of all have lots of fun! Oliver has been coming to YMSA events for many years and we’re all as a family very much looking forward to catching up with old friends, making some new ones and having three days of solid riding.”
Regs are available on the OSET website. Entry numbers are limited so please get your entries in asap to secure a place. Camping is available at Barry’s farm, Dudwood Farm. Facilities are limited to one flushing toilet and a tap. It’s a beautiful setting, but come prepared. OSET riders will need to be able to charge their own batteries and will need spare sets to cover a full day’s riding.
