Youth Trials Series hotting up - Round 3

Round 3 of the ACU Belle Trailers Youth C&D National series followed a week after rounds 1 & 2 and took place at the well known Harwood Dale venue near Scarborough. The course was set to make the most of the variety available at the venue, and the parents had to contend with chasing their kids round three laps of a 2.5 mile loop. Hard work!!

The D class small wheels are for the youngest and smallest riders in this under 10 grouping. The 12 riders in this class were all on OSET 20.0R’s with the exception of Mason Crawford on his 20.0 Lite. The previous rounds saw two different winners, and round 3 saw another! Young Bobby Crabtree went round the course for a miserly 3 points, narrowly beating round one winner Mason Crawford from Northern Ireland on 4. Round 2 winner Jacob Wilson from the Isle of Man squeeked 3rd on most cleans from Tom Gibbins, who for the second trial in a row missed the podium on a tie break.

This leaves the top of the table looking tight! A win and two seconds from Mason Crawford puts him at the top of the table, with the next three hot on his heels. Should be an interesting season! The rest of the pack is close behind, so virtually everyone in the class is capable of podiums.

OSET 24.0 rider Elliot Smith came into round two in the C Medium Wheel class as leader with two clear wins from rounds 1&2. For round 3 Stanley Cubbon from the Isle of Man was looking sharp all day, and pulled off a well deserved win, finishing on 26 to Elliot’s 29. A big congratulations to Matilda Arbon, who filled the final podium position on 43.

In this 7 round series every round counts, so it’s all to play for! Next round is at Dudwood Farm in Derbyshire on June 30th.
