OSET Cup South Winter Series Round 4

OSET Cup South Winter Series, Round 4

By Oliver Smith

Sophie’s Star Ride

29 OSET riders were greeted to a very slippy Sturry Gun Club Venue - the former training grounds of Graham Jarvis. The sections were tough across the board, but the children were smiling all day and enjoying the mud.

Twelve riders took on the orange route. Freddie Hills used his skills to navigate the tricky sections to win on a very impressive 10 points. Close behind were the girls - Ruby Jackman on 21 and Freddie’s sister Mia on 26.

On the Yellows, 6 year old Rowan Dean on his immaculate 20.0-Lite took a commanding victory on 45 points. A special mention goes to George Coombes, who only started riding in 2015, and took a fine second place on 62. Denni-Louise Dear followed in third on 93.

The red route was a strong class with 5 riders taking on the genuinely tricky sections. Taking the top spot was Stefan Richardson, who navigated his way through the slippery course to finish on 54 marks. Elliot Smith followed behind on 65 marks, with Josh Dear riding well despite bike problems to finish on 78.

Sophie Bailey was the Star of the day on her 24.0 prototype doing incredibly well on the blue route. Sophie only dropped 45 marks, with her nearest rival Mason ‘Grassy’ Meadows on a 20.0 Eco on 61 marks. Daniel Dabreo also rode well on his 20.0 Racing for third.

Again, another excellent event by KYTC and a special thanks to all who helped despite the weather. The next event is February 28th, run by EATC at Bennington Herts. Go to www.osetbikes.com/gb for details.
