A slippery Time in Cornwall

The first round of the Cornwall OSET Cup Winter Championship got off to a cracking start.  Held at Garker Valley, St Austell fine weather meant the waterproofs could stay at home, but conditions remained wet and slippery after the previous week's floods and heavy rain.

Howard Stevens, who runs the events said: “Differing conditions teach the children something new.  Conditions like this help teach children throttle control, the importance of finding grip, body positioning over the back wheel and the need to keep the bike rolling.”

Camborne and Redruth MCC were delighted 34 riders participated, including 2 newcomers, Sam Congdon and Carter Mitchell who quickly made new friends and enjoyed their first trial.

“We’re going from strength to strength.  We started out with eight kids and now regularly achieve over 30.  It’s a fantastic indication that OSET Bikes are now considered to be the ideal start and events like ours are helping breathe life back into the sport.  They’re designed as a non-intimidating, introduction to motorbikes and we hope many of these children go on to enjoy trials riding throughout their lifetime.”

Good to see was rider development as some moved up to a harder course for this championship, with a great battle on the Hard Course as Johnathan Hancock pipped Ronnie Richards by a single mark.
