OSET CUP NORTH ROUND 6 WITH SCUNTHORPE CLUB AT THE ROCKSTORE.
The sun was out as 30 riders from all classes lined up for the start of OSET CUP NORTH ROUND 6 on Saturday 24th September. A few riders used the event as warm-up for the British Championship the next day. Eddie Charlton and Joshua Tate put the warm-up to good use, and both came out on top in their respective classes.
Scott Witting from the club marked out some cracking sections and the level was just about perfect!! Enough of a challenge with a lesson in finding different lines to get the job done. We had 6 observers which made the event run very smoothly. Thanks go out to all the members of Scunthorpe Club who all mucked in. Kevin Witting, Scott Witting, Mrs. Witting Senior, Oliver Hellewell, James Atkinson and Joanne Richardson. Cheers Carl Batty for helping me do the math's again.
The Rockstore is tricky at the best of times and keeping on line is very important with all the lose rocks, take your eye off the route and marks can be lost in a split second. All the riders did well considering the challenging terrain. We yet again had a good mix of bikes and age groups and were graced again by the girls. We had plenty of Mum's and Dad's running themselves ragged and they deserve a shout out as we could not run without them. The results were quicker than normal, but the kids were kept entertained watching the young Speedway riders who were on a practice day at Eddie Wright Raceway at the other side of the car park. It certainly put a different drift on proceedings!!!!
I cannot mention everybody each week, but all your names are in the results and there should be pictures of all riders in the gallery at the end. We are coming up to our last round of the year on 22nd OCTOBER at DOB PARK. I will get the current championship positions up on the Facebook page shortly so you can all see where you are. A BIG THANK YOU from me for all the support throughout the year. Given the difficulties we have had the entries have actually gone up and we have been over 30 at nearly every event. The truth is they have all been special and I will miss the ones who move up and welcome the newbies going forward.
